Fibre to the home (FTTH) takes optical fibre all the way to the customer's door. In Accra, Ghana, our teams are deploying FTTH networks that bring high-speed internet to residential streets.

From the street to the living room

The fibre distribution point

Each neighbourhood is served from a fibre distribution point (FDP): a street cabinet where the feeder fibre is split out to individual homes. Our engineers splice, patch and label every connection inside the cabinet and test it before moving on.

Optical splitter installation

Passive optical splitters (1x16 in the cabinet shown) let one feeder fibre serve many homes without any powered equipment in the street. Fewer active components means lower running costs and fewer points of failure.

Drop cable installation

From the distribution point, a drop cable runs to each property, along poles or walls, and into the home through a neat termination point.

ONU and home installation

Inside, the technician mounts the optical network unit (ONU), the box that turns light back into a connection the customer's devices can use, and confirms the service works.

What fibre in the home makes possible

  • Ultra-fast internet
  • Smart homes
  • Digital education
  • Better healthcare
  • Economic growth
  • Sustainable communities

The measure of success is simple: a happy customer with high-speed internet. Connecting Africa, empowering lives.
