High-speed connectivity should not stop at the city limits. In Guinea, our teams are building fibre optic infrastructure that brings the network to rural communities, under a simple promise: building the network, connecting Guinea.

Five stages of a rural build

1. Duct installation

Protective ducts are laid in trenches along the route. The duct shields the cable and makes future repairs and upgrades far simpler.

2. Handhole construction

Concrete handholes are built at intervals along the route. They give access points for pulling and blowing cable, and for maintenance later on.

3. Fibre cable blowing

The fibre is installed into the ducts using cable blowing, which carries it along on compressed air to protect it during installation.

4. Fibre splicing and termination

Cable sections are fusion-spliced and terminated in distribution cabinets, ready to connect customers and sites.

5. Testing and network verification

Finally, the route is tested end to end and the results recorded, so the network is proven before it goes live.
